International Day of Older Persons Marked
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- October 1 is International Day of Older Persons.
The aged people who took part in the Autumn Sports Contest of Aged People-2026 showed well their looks of leading a happy life full of vigor and energy even in their twilight years under the benefits of the socialist system and various sports techniques they have trained in the days of conducting mass sports activities.
The DPRK has long directed efforts to providing the rights and interests of the aged people and to ensuring that they enjoy a worthwhile life in good health.
The state set up the Central Committee of the Korea Federation for the Care of the Aged to take unified control of the work for the care of the aged as one of the important policies and organize and implement them.
The adoption of the DPRK Law on the Care of the Aged provided a legal guarantee for establishing a strict system and order in the work for the care of the aged, respecting the aged people and offering them with better living conditions.
Sanatoriums for war veteran and homes for the aged have been built in different parts of the country, and all the elderly people enjoy a happy life, being treated as revolutionary forerunners under the care of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the state.
Advantageous policies are being enforced to protect the macrobians, widely introduce the experience and ensure that the aged over 90 receive special social benefits.
Medical workers in charge of households visit the macrobians, give them regular medical checkups and pay special attention to their health.
This year alone, dozens of centenarians including Ri Jong Hwa in Kumjang-ri, Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province, received birthday spreads from the Party.
Thanks to the policy of protecting the elderly enforced in the country, the elderly are enjoying a happy life and spending the rest of their lives comfortably. -0-
