U.S. Is Acting Rashly: International Affairs Analyst

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- Kim Myong Chol, an international affairs analyst of the DPRK, released the following article "The U.S. is acting rashly":

"Peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait" is something always repeated by the United States and its allies in the international arena.

However, the U.S. has systematically destroyed regional stability and persistently escalated the situation under the pretext of "opposing unilateral attempt at change of phenomenon" in the Taiwan Strait.

The emergence of fighter jets sold by the U.S. on the island of Taiwan a few days ago is another typical example of the U.S. "peculiar contribution" to "peace and stability" of the Taiwan Strait.

The U.S. says that the sale of weapons to Taiwan is for "peace in the strait", but this is nothing but a shameless act of planting a bomb at the gate of other's house and asserting that the bomb is for ensuring the security of the house.

When the People's Republic of China and the U.S. established their diplomatic relations, the latter recognized the government of the former as the only legitimate government of China and Taiwan as a part of the former. But the U.S. made it its policy and obligation to sell weapons to Taiwan, irrespective of the change of its administration, and has supported the separatist forces pursuing "Taiwan's independence" and challenging the "one-China" principle.

In the past decade alone, the cost of munitions supplied by the U.S. to Taiwan in the form of overseas arms sales totaled more than 39 billion US dollars. This includes 11 billion US dollars, the largest-ever arms sales approved by the present U.S. administration at the end of last year.

Not content with this, the U.S. has made it a fait accompli to additionally sell weapons worth 14 billion US dollars to Taiwan.

Herein lies the reason why peace and stability have not been restored in the Taiwan Strait for decades.

Recently, the U.S. proclaimed the first island chain including Taiwan as the forefront for suppressing China. It seeks to deploy the latest missiles on an island of Japan closest to Taiwan and "internationalize" the Taiwan issue by making its warships and aircraft pass through the Taiwan Strait under the signboard of "freedom of navigation".

This proves once again that "peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait" touted by the U.S. is, in essence, "support for Taiwan's power-based independence" and that the "one-China" policy advocated by it is nothing but the one for "perpetuating the division of China by force".

The Taiwan issue is an internal affair of China, so how to settle it is entirely the affair of the Chinese people, and no outside forces have the right to interfere in it.

Obviously, the U.S. did up the wrong button on the Taiwan issue and has taken again a dangerous course whose consequences are difficult to imagine.

Some American fighters to be deployed in Taiwan may be a comfort to the separatists for a while, but it cannot bridge the striking gap between the both sides in terms of capability.

No matter what method the Taiwanese separatists employ and what support the U.S. renders to Taiwan, it can neither deny the fact that Taiwan is a part of China nor influence the basic recognition of the international community that adheres to the principle of "one China".

The U.S. should think twice whether it is ready to stand in frontal confrontation with the powerful national power of the People's Republic of China for the security of Taiwan and whether it can cope with its consequences. If it is worried about the consequences, it had better think and act rationally.

Justice is not afraid of confrontation with injustice.

No one should question the ability and will of the People's Republic of China to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and core interests.

China's effort to retake Taiwan is an indispensable and just sacred cause for making abnormalities normality, making injustice justice and making instability stability. It is an irrefutable law-governed historical process that the island of Taiwan becomes a part of China again.

The instability of the Taiwan Strait precisely means the crisis of the United States. Taiwan's return to China is a matter of time. -0-
