DPRK Players with Disabilities Prove Successful at Int'l Games

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- The DPRK players with disabilities glorify the honor of the country at international sports games.

Over the last ten-odd years after their debut in 2012, they have won more than 20 medals, including 11 gold medals, at various international games, clearly showing the advantages of the DPRK's socialist system.

The National Paralympic Committee of the DPRK was formed in 2011 to usher in a golden age of sports for the disabled in the country.

Jon Ju Hyon and Kim Yong Rok defeated their rivals with diverse techniques and tactics and won a gold medal in the men's team event (TT6-TT7) of the 2019 ITTF Asian Para Championships.

The proud success of our players in the men's team event (TT6-TT7) of the 2019 ITTF Para Bangkok Open proved to the world the rapid development of sports for the disabled in our country.

Kim Yong Rok and Pak Kum Jin placed first in men's doubles (class 7) of the ITTF World Para Future Taipei 2025 and Kim Yong Rok in men's singles (class 7) of the ITTF World Para Challenger Kaohsiung 2025.

Jon Ju Hyon won the men's singles (class 6) and Kim Yong Rok bagged a gold medal in the men's singles (class 7) at the ITTF Asian Para Championships 2025.

Pak Kyong Sok came first in the men's 100-meter breaststroke and 50-meter freestyle in the MS6 and So Kwang Nam in the men's table tennis singles (class 9) at the Fifth Asian Youth Para Games held in the United Arab Emirates in December 2025.

Besides, the DPRK players proved successful in the 3rd Asian Para Games, the 3rd Asian Youth Para Games and other international games. -0-
