Street Parade and Evening Gala Held to Mark Founding Anniversary of DPRK
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- A street parade and evening gala took place in Pyongyang on Tuesday to celebrate the 78th founding anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Before starting the parade, Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, made a speech.
He said that the solemn parade will show the firm faith and will of the people to display the mightiness and beauty of the beloved motherland forever with single-minded loyalty on the occasion of the significant national day.
Amid the playing of "Song of the Proclamation of the People's Republic", the parade began with the column holding a large national flag of the Republic in the lead.
The participants in the parade extended the highest glory to the President and the Chairman who set an epochal example in building a prosperous and powerful socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence with their outstanding ideology and leadership.
All the columns, including column with a float depicting the national emblem, column of rhythmic national flags and column of persons in three-color clothes, extended the highest tribute to respected Comrade
The columns of the parade entered
Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, and other senior officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs and leading officials of ministries, national agencies and working people's organizations appeared on the platform of the square.
Members of the diplomatic corps here took their seats for invited guests of the platform.
Labor innovators and meritorious persons invited to the celebrations of the national day, participants in the 15th National Conference of Teachers, service personnel, youth and students and schoolchildren of revolutionary schools warmly welcomed the columns of the parade entering the square.
A ceremony of hoisting the national flag of the DPRK took place solemnly.
All the participants paid high tribute to the dignified national flag of the DPRK, full of pride and patriotic enthusiasm and confidence in the bright future.
Looking up to the national flag, the columns of the street parade passed through the square with a pledge to make patriotic and precious successes in every theater of struggle for the prosperity of the country.
Then an evening gala of youth and students took place.
The participants in the evening gala danced to the tune of "Song of Youth" and "Dear Father", flying the national flags of the Republic. They were replete with boundless reverence and gratitude to respected fatherly Marshal
The melody of songs "The Desire" and "We Are Koreans" resounded through the square and the spectacular fireworks were displayed to decorate the end of the evening gala beautifully. -0-
