Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- More than 90 years have passed since the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

The DIU was the first revolutionary youth organization in Korea composed of young people of the new generation aspiring after socialism and communism to achieve national liberation and class emancipation in the ideal of anti-imperialism and independence.

In the mid-1920s, President Kim Il Sung united young passionate people with the same aspiration into one to provide the hard core, and actively pushed ahead with the efforts to form a new-type vanguard organization.

After holding the preliminary meeting of the hard-core members to discuss the issues of the name, character, fighting program and activity norms of the organization, the President organized the DIU, a vanguard organization of the revolution consisting of young communists of the new generation, on October 17, 1926.

The President said that the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union is a declaration of the decisive struggle to overthrow Japanese imperialism, and a declaration of confrontation with all imperialism on earth.

Since the historic day, the Korean revolution has followed the road of independent development with clear fighting goals and strategies, and the Korean people have carved out their destiny by themselves, taking charge of their own destiny.

Under the banner of DIU, the banner of Juche uplifted by the President, the DPRK people created legendary tales about heroes defeating the two imperialist countries in the same generation, and brought about a world historic change by building a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence on this land where only ashes were left.

The path indicated by the DIU's ideal is the one of the eternal victory and the spirit of the DIU is the most powerful weapon of invincibility. This is the precious truth the DPRK people acquired while following the great Workers' Party of Korea for decades.

The DPRK people's struggle for bringing earlier the victory in the building of socialism and communism by inheriting the noblest and sacred ideal and spirit are advancing more vigorously and confidently with redoubled confidence and high spirit. -0-
