Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on June 3 to mark the 80th founding anniversary of Minju Joson.

Present there were officials concerned, officials, journalists, editors and employees of the Minju Joson, meritorious persons and officials of relevant units.

Kim Pong Do, editor-in-chief of the Minju Joson, made a report.

The reporter said that President Kim Il Sung founded the newspaper on June 4, 1946, personally named its title "Minju Joson" and developed it into the strong ideological weapon vigorously leading all the people to the socialist construction in every period and at every stage of revolution and construction.

Chairman Kim Jong Il guided Minju Joson to invariably maintain its revolutionary character and nature as a prestigious newspaper representing the stand of the DPRK, with his rare wisdom and through energetic ideo-theoretical activities in the whole period of his revolutionary leadership, the reporter noted.

He referred to the fact that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that a revolutionary turn was brought about in editing the newspaper in the new era of the Juche revolution and wisely led the work of Minju Joson so that it fulfills its honorable responsibility and duty as the organ of the DPRK government.

He went on:

The respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un made sure that the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent a congratulatory message to the Minju Joson on its 70th founding anniversary. His great trust and love served as an important occasion of instilling pride and sense of obligation as the ideological standard-bearer into the minds of the journalists and editors and redoubling their will to reliably defend a part of the ideological front of the Party.

The reporter said that thanks to the wise leadership and warm love of the Party, the Minju Joson could remain faithful to its mission and duty as a prestigious mouthpiece of the DPRK government and as an ideological weapon of the Party, encouraging all the people to turn out in socialist construction. -0-
