Greenhouse Vegetable Production Increases in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Large-scale greenhouse vegetable production bases in the DPRK increase production through scientific cultivation.

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm is making achievements in vegetable production. It has cultivated fruit and leaf vegetables including tomatoes and peppers, which can be harvested for more than eight months after their planting, amid the brisk research into cultivation technology to increase productivity.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has conducted a technical study and passing-on technique meeting to raise the level of its employees' technical knowledge and skill, while supplying nutrient solution and agrochemicals to raise productivity.

The farm has also cultivated a large number of various kinds of fresh vegetables including cabbage and cucumber by meeting the technical requirements according to the processes ranging from seed treatment to harvesting.

The Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm increased the vegetable production 1.4 times as compared with the same period last year by strengthening its own technical force.

The Kangdong Greenhouse Complex established a system for reusing nutrient solution. It provided a guarantee for revitalizing production by raising the rate of reuse while putting the filtration and disinfection of nutrient solution and adding necessary nutrients in a scientific and technological way.

Its employees have put efforts into better cultivation by nutritive accelerants, making effective use of greenhouse spaces in the method of box-style vegetable cultivation and introducing inter after-cropping according to the characteristics of crops, thus increasing the output per unit area. -0-
