National Inter-provincial Riding Contest Held

Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- The National Inter-provincial Riding Contest-2026 was held at the Mirim Riding Club in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, to mark the March 8 International Women's Day.

Men and women riders selected from each province took part in such events as showjumping, quick relay with taking one's feet out of the stirrup and 1 600m race, held in indoor and outdoor riding courses.

The preliminary match was held on Mar. 7 and the finals on Mar. 8.

Among the spectators were Jo Yong Won and Ri Il Hwan, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and other senior Party and government officials, chief secretaries of provincial committees of the WPK Central Committee, and their wives.

Present there on invitation were Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the DPRK, Kim Yo Jong, department director of the C.C., WPK, and other women officials working at the C.C., WPK and government organs, officials of the C.C., Socialist Women's Union of Korea and women labor innovators.

Working people, youth and students in Pyongyang watched the contest.

There took place dressage and showjump demonstrations of the riders of the Mirim Riding Club and then the final match was held.

South Hamgyong Province came first in total standings, and Nampho Municipality and South Hwanghae Province second and third respectively.

The final match was followed by 1 600m race demonstration of men and women riders of the club.

Cups, diplomas and prizes were awarded to the provinces and municipality which won top places and to the players who proved successful in the events.

Prizes were also awarded to the horses that won the 1 600m race.

Then a performance was given by the artistic information team of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League to congratulate the March 8 International Women's Day. -0-
