Campaign to Prevent Forest Fire Launched in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) -- A campaign to prevent forest fire in autumn is under way in different parts of the DPRK.

North Hamgyong Province has conducted explanations, lectures and education in law observance in various forms and methods to convince residents and working people that prevention of forest fire is the patriotic work to protect the precious wealth of the country. Meanwhile, it has conducted actual maneuvers on extinguishing forest fire in a planned way to be constantly ready for action.

In keeping with the dangerous period of forest fire, it makes people observe the order for entering the mountain areas and it is also taking control of any slight symptom through IT means like the surveillance cameras.

South Hamgyong Province has intensified the work to establish and operate a well-regulated system of forest fire surveillance, notification and mobilization for extinguishment in close contact with relevant organs.

It has directed efforts to repairing and maintaining fire-belts and stone barriers, checking up transmission lines stretching over the mountains as a whole and taking measures against dangerous factors.

Similar work has been carried on in Jagang, Ryanggang and North Hwanghae provinces, Rason Municipality and other parts of the country. -0-
