One day in May 2010, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Hyesan Footwear Factory in the DPRK to see its products.

He said that the padded boots made at the factory would be favored not only by forestry workers but also by those living in cold places.

He appreciated that the factory had done a really good thing for the people living in the cold, adding he was very pleased to see such a factory contributing to the well-being of the people.

Saying that the factory should name the shoes well in keeping with the good quality of shoes produced for the people, he proposed that it would be a good idea to name them "Ryanggangdo Padded Boots" as it is a special product of Ryanggang Province.

The name of the boot he had given was associated with his expectation and trust in all light industrial factories to produce a lot of better products for the people. -0-
