Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- The North Hwanghae Provincial Tree Nursery is putting the production of saplings on a higher scientific and intensive basis.

After working out its stage-by-stage plan, the tree nursery has secured seeds of trees of good species. And it is conducting the technical guidance meticulously to ensure that all its employees take care of saplings in conformity with their biological characteristics.

It also boosted the substrate production and introduced an water-spraying method which is effective in saving manpower, nutrient solution and agrochemicals and preventing the damage by harmful insects.

It taught its employees advanced forest science and technology and utilized an advanced cultivation method and a practical irrigation method and thus produced over 11.3 million saplings.

The officials and employees of the tree nursery are raising the rate of rooting of saplings by keeping and planting seeds of trees of forest species and species for the greening of cities and applying an additional fertilizer to them in a scientific and technical way.

In order to spread an oil-bearing chestnut tree and Acer truncatum of great economic value which grow well in the regional climatic and soil conditions, they meet the requirements of technical regulations according to their growth and stage, take good care of them and provide favorable conditions for the growth of saplings.

With the aim of providing the saplings for the greening of farm villages, the tree nursery is raising saplings of zelkova trees, etc. by securing organic fertilizers and concentrating on spraying insecticides, germicidal agents and growth promoter and on irrigation in line with the seasonal conditions. -0-
